The Town of 700 Owls 🦉

What happens

In the town square of Kikinda, Serbia, the kids look up into the trees and hundreds of long-eared owls with tall ear tufts stare back. Every owl turns its head at the same time to follow the ball (creepy-cute!), and as night falls the owls fly out one by one over the street lamps.

Fun facts

• Owls can't move their eyes, so they turn their whole heads instead.
• Long-eared owls spend winter together in town trees.
• Kikinda has one of the biggest owl roosts in the world.
