What happens

In Emas National Park, Brazil, the termite mounds light up green after dark, like little castles with fairy lights (glowing beetle larvae live inside). A maned wolf, a fox on stilts, trots in on super-long legs and steps right over the ball, and a giant anteater flicks its long tongue at a mound.

Fun facts

  • The glow comes from beetle larvae living in the mounds.
  • Maned wolves have the longest legs of any wild dog.
  • Giant anteaters flick their tongues up to 150 times a minute.
